Superbowl is no go!
B ack in January various media outlets were reporting that Cardi turned down the NFL Superbowl performance which was scheduled for February 4th, 2018. Instead boy-band turn solo-pop star, Justin Timberlake replaced her last min. But no word on why the multi-award entertainer turned down the national spotlight to perform her multi platinum record Bodak Yellow, til she revealed that she has been a staunch supporter of Colin Kaepernick for the previous year. Fast Forward an entire year, many awards and platinum plaques later, the NFL is back vying for Cardi to give them another chance.
The Bronx native has consistently held her end and agreed to yet again for a second time in a row stick to her support the former QB Colin Kaepernick and ask the NFL to withdraw her name from the list of potential performers for the 2019 Superbowl scheduled February 3rd 2019. In a statement, article shared with Page Six, the ‘Money’ rapper said that she wouldn’t perform alongside co-stars Travis Scott and Maroon 5 because of her continued support of Colin Kaepernick’s continued exclusion from the league, and never-the-less is paying the NFL no mind at any offers and has already scheduled to perform alongside Bruno mars in another epic event on the same weekend.
Media outlets have all been circulating the same news that the Roc Nation CEO, Jay Z is currently having conversations with the young rapper, Travis Scott in hopes that he too can use his platform to protest the leagues treatment of Colin K among the things that Colin has been protesting like ‘police brutality’ and the systematic racism that targets black Americans. While this is just a rumored report it does make sense that Jay will ask artist to use their platform more wisely for the sake of their own brand and the evolving business of the music industry.
