Lewis Hamilton & Merceds F1 gives it another 2-year run..
The British racing driver who also became the first black competitive Formula One driver for the industry signed a renewed deal with his Mercedes AMG Petronas, only to make his extension even more important to the Merceds AMA F1 brand. The extension is only a complimentary offer to his existing legacy with the raising team. His achievements have made him the most successful Mercedes driver in the company’s 112-year motorsports history.
The 33-year-old racer holds four titles; three of them with his current team. He is currently ranked second in points for the 2018 season behind Sebastian Vettel with 11 races to go. A second lifetime behind Schumacher for total wins at 65, though that is quite a ways behind Schumacher’s impressive 91 wins; 44 of Hamilton’s first-place finishes have come with Mercedes-AMG. The racing team was also quick to point out that Hamilton has never been without Mercedes power given his 20-year relationship with the motor team. Every Grand Prix racer Lewis has piloted has featured Mercedes-Benz power since his debut in 2007. Aside from Hamilton’s success with Mercedes, his 2017 F1 title at the Mexican Grand Prix made him the most successful British driver in F1 history. There, he also joined an elite group of drivers to have won four or more titles.
While no number was published we do know that since his deal in 2016 season with Merceds the deal was scheduled to have paid out more than $140 million to date. The current deal announced this week might just be enough to keep Lewis on the top paid athlete list this year.
