According to Billboard, the 1994 hit from Mariah Carey’s, ‘All I Want For Christmas,’ is back in 2018 and has emerged as one of the highest-charting Hot 100 hits in 60 years. While the single made its rare appearance on Christmas eve, the track clocking in at 10,819,009 streams on Spotify, secured a bag worth only $66K for the pop icon.

Rollin Stones recalls that the hit which have made an appearance every Christmas since its release took 15-mins to write making it a unique record and an excellent example of what a long-tail hit looks like. While the streaming revenue doesn’t yet add up or make sense to anyone there seems to be a lot more to be accounted for from major streaming platforms as their earnings are in the billions which extends to major recording labels as well.
