From Brooklyn “Spread Love,” to Minnesota “Purple Rain”
T he NBA fans gets a huge face lift through the Nike ‘City Edition’ team jerseys. In 2017 the NBA and Nike announced a partnership with the main goal of uniting cities. Starting with their own NBA fans. Across the league home teams was introduced with the introduction of City Edition uniforms using a straight-forward inspirational approach encouraged through its designs. Incorporating unique aspects of the various cities to appear on the teams uniforms through design.
Inspirations were far from simple as designs included architecture, landmarks, famous figures and mottos becoming the creative backdrops for the jerseys, creating a piece of fan culture that’s wholly loyal to communities across the League. via NIKE.
Not only is this a creative way to say, the NBA & NIKE are uniting in an effort to revive cities but also a special way of promoting the branding the current teams within the city. As part of the cities every changing cultural backdrop, a sports arena & a home team is a staple to brag about in any city or town while using the ‘city edition’ jerseys to support those cities and their tourist attraction is a very dope and continuous way to brand teams, players within the cities amongst fans and corporate in branding with the city, in the city. I would like to see NIKE continue this with smaller teams, in high-school football, soccer and volleyball teams.
