The Obama’s are movie goers but they are also fans of great content and diversity which is no surprise why the Obama’s latest news release is of them signing on to the Netflix streaming program as producers of content. According to the Variety, release President Barack Obama and the former First Lady Michelle Obama will begin producing content for Netflix under their company Higher Ground Productions. Netflix press release points out that with a subscription base of 125 million user globally, the two will create “a diverse mix of content, including the potential for scripted series, unscripted series, docu-series, documentaries, and features.”
Netflix executive was quoted saying that
“Barack and Michelle Obama are among the world’s most respected and highly-recognized public figures and are uniquely positioned to discover and highlight stories of people who make a difference in their communities and strive to change the world for the better,” said Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos. “We are incredibly proud they have chosen to make Netflix the home for their formidable storytelling abilities.”
Now that Obama is no longer in the WH, Hollywood reporter has revealed that the Obama have constantly asked for access to new releases while Hollywood has a long tradition of providing films to the White House, where there’s a posh screening room for the President among many others WH workers & clients. President Obama also made his guest appearance on the Netflix’s ‘My Next Guest Needs No Introduction’ with David Letterman.
