M C is back and knocks out Drake for the number one spot on the music streaming platform Spotify. According to Billboard, the 1994 hit from Mariah Carey’s, ‘All I Want For Christmas,’ is back in 2018 and has emerged as one of the highest-charting Hot 100 hits in 60 years. While the single made its rare appearance on Christmas eve, the track clocking in at 10,819,009 streams on Spotify, secured a bag worth only $66K for the pop icon.
Rollin Stones recalls that the hit which have made an appearance every Christmas since its release took 15-mins to write making it a unique record and an excellent example of what a long-tail hit looks like. While the streaming revenue doesn’t yet add up or make sense to anyone there seems to be a lot more to be accounted for from major streaming platforms as their earnings are in the billions which extends to major recording labels as well.
The song’s Christmas Eve figure beats out the 10.4 million streams of XXXTentacion’s single “Sad!
