mention Kap next to Ali..
In a video interview between Van Jones and Jay Z at the top of the year, Van referred to Colin K as an athlete who stands and will forever be an iconic figure next to Muhammad Ali among others, Jay relied that the former number 7 NFL player is already where he supposed to be in life and that is amongst the greatest.
Early this week if you were on social media some made a fuss about Nike making Colin K, someone who has for the past two years brought a magnifying glass to racism in American through his protest at the beginning of games back in 2017. Unknowing to many Kap and Nike still maintained their business relationship according to various news sources which led the global sport apparel company to choose him for their foot in the door on activism. Nike has been awfully quite in the past on civil rights issues, but it seems that more and more companies not only Nike are taking the step to bring awareness to a quality of life and stand with athlete activist through their careers.
On Monday, Nike and Colin launched the ‘Just Do It’ campaign displaying Kap’s face as the face of their sport brand and their branded messaging along with various billboards that can be seen going up throughout major cities. Today they followed up with the release of visuals adding the legacy which Kap has been actively contributing throughout his career in the NFL. While some may have taken offense to the campaign they have launched a boycott campaign of their own in a small but very ineffective way.
In addition Nike has also extended their support to the professional tennis player Serena Williams, NBA player LeBron James and NFL players Odell Beckham Jr. and Shaquem Griffin when needed. The new clip added on Tuesday also shows skateboarder Lacey Baker, legless wrestler Isaiah Bird, marathoner Eliud Kipchoge, boxer Zeina Nassar and wheelchair basketball player Megan Blunk.
