This year at Reggae Sumfest Dancehall artist Rexton ‘Shabba Ranks’ Gordon will be celebrated as one of the cultures most iconic performers
Having signed to the American music label in 1989, Shabba transformed both Dancehall and the international culture. He recorded and released music under the Epic Records imprint, which enabled him to experience success worldwide. His singles such as ‘Twice My Age’, ‘Ting-A-Ling’, ‘Dem Bow’ and ‘Mr. Loverman’ remain classics. in both Dancehall and the enabled the cross over the genre of Reggaeton. He has been a leading influence throughout the years. Which is why this year Shabba will be crowned ‘King Of Dancehall’ at Jamaica’s Sumfest.
The Grammy award-winning artist will high highlight the Reggae Sumfest on Saturday 18 July 2020 this summer. Shabba Ranks’ appearance at Sumfest, will be his third performance of his career at the festival since hitting the stage in 1994 and then in 2012. Scheduled is a vintage Shabba to perform one hour of his mega-hits to keep the crowd on their feet.
The festival I’m guessing is pending the global pandemic comes to an end in the near future. Shabba, Spice, Koffee, Stylo G, daddy1 have been booked for Sumfest 2020, more names are expected to be added soon.
