Thanks to Missy and Black Twitter
While every year is Missy’s year, this year everything seems to be headed in the same direction to Missy ‘Misdemeanor’ Elliot. First receiving the a special Songwriters Hall Of Fame tribute now the writer, performer, and multi-award winner will be given the exclusive Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award on Monday 26th at the MTV VMA’s during a broadcast tribute to her accomplishments in the arts.
While the award has been in the making I think we can all agree, that thanks to Twitter the dream was kept alive through various post tributes paying special homage to one of the most creative and influential rappers in its history. Twitter has been key in creating and maintain the image of Missy throughout the years in support of her iconic contributions.
Elliott, a five-time Grammy Award winner and the first female hip-hop artist to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, has sold more than 30 million records worldwide, thanks to hits like “Work It,” “Get Ur Freak On” and “WTF (Where They From).” She is the only female rapper to have six studio albums certified platinum.
Her upcoming performance on the VMA stage will mark her first since 2003[somryv url=”gShYq7ajJJo” size=”full” align=”center”]
A special all star tribute is line-up for the VA rapper this Monday night.
