Great start to an an award show..
With performance features from from Lizzo, Shawn Mendez and rare appearances from French Montana awarding the best latin single to ROSALÍA / J Balvin: “Con Altura” ft. El Guincho, the 2019 took off to a great night. MTV focused on bringing and including a diverse array of commercials that included music and artist from rap to pop while MTV2 ran more or less brought us an uncensored version of the VMAs. More than appreciated that fact.

Aside from Lil Nas X and Missy Elliot highlighting the evening there were also the opening act Megan Thee Stallion pre-show with a performance of “Big Ole Freak” and later performed a medley of “Hot Girl Summer” and “Cash Shit.” Rosalía performed her duet with Ozuna, Big Sean and A$AP Ferg performed their new song “Bezerk,” produced by Hitboy, which they had released just hours before the show. Bad Bunny and J Balvin performed their Oasis hit “Que Pretendes” in full costume.
