Rihanna’s NAACP Speech Reminds Viewers Their Support Is Still Critical

The global superstar details the importance that the world’s issues are everyone’s issues during Rihanna’s NAACP Image Award speech.

‘Tell your friends to pull up’ was the message made during the broadcast of Rihanna’s NAACP acceptance speech. Held on Saturday evening in the Pasadena Civic Center in California, wearing a gorgeous purple Givenchy haute couture gown from the label’s spring 2020 collection delivered a speech that echoed throughout the world.

Accepting the NNACP Image Award most distinguished prize, the President’s Award, Rihanna challenged fans and viewers to have global unity.  The phrase if it’s a world’s issue is everyone’s issue was highlighted during the event. Making her presence short-lived during the speech Rihanna reflected on her time at Clara Lionel Foundation.  Rihanna took the platform to remind her viewers of the importance of unity.

“It’s a woman’s problem. It’s a black people problem. It’s a poor people problem. How many us in this have colleagues and partners and friends from other races, sexes, religions. Show of hands.”
