The ESPN/Netflix docu-series featured MJ in his heyday, but Vice docu-series ‘One Man and His Shoes’ will focus on Sneakerheads hype.

The recent docu-series by ESPN/Netflix starring Michael Jordan served as an event series detailing MJ the man.  In the most recent announcement by Vice TV, their release of the ‘One Man And His Shoes’ will serve as eye candy.  While many adored the recent events and interviews with the greatest pro-basketball player, not all enjoyed the lack of sneaker talk.  Sneakerheads will eventually get their shine in the upcoming Vice TV docu-series.

The series will detail the phenomenon of Air Jordan sneakers.  While the series will lack opinions from the resale vultures, it will emphasize on their social, cultural, and racial significance.  It will also look into the brand’s groundbreaking marketing strategies.  Jordan’s sneaker business has amassed over billions of dollars over the years which made MJ the first black athlete billionaire.

Back in the early 2000’s Footlocker among many other retail stores protested the prices of ‘retro’ sneakers by not carrying them.  This will also be an aspect of focus by the producer/director Yemi Bamiro.  While the perceived high prices coupled with marketing has created a demand among enthusiasts, so did it create the billion-dollar business of resales.

One Man and His Shoes” will debut on May 25 at 8 p.m. ET on  Vice TV. It will also be available via VIiceTV.com and the Vice TV app.
