The Air Jordan 5 was designed by Tinker Hatfield. Its debuts in 1990 were inspired by a World War II fighter plane.  They featured a 3M reflective tongue, mesh netting, a flame on the midsole, and a set of lace locks.  They were also the first Air Jordan to feature translucent outsoles.
