The rumor of the high-end platform has been circulating for months but more believe Amazon Luxury can save the designer retail industry.

Websites like WWD, FN, The Cut, and Qz have all been adding fuel to the rumors of what could be Amazon’s latest launch. This rumor started in an article dating back to January 2020 by WWD. After that, the news took on a life of its own adding that 12 high-end designer brands are already working with the platform. The retail giant has since said to have no comments on the rumors.

What we currently know is that the brand is building a warehouse in AZ to house these luxury brands, according to WWD.  It has also been mentioned that a $100 Million budget have been allocated for an upcoming marketing campaign by Amazon. While being the biggest online retail platform in the country, the behemoth have pointed out that when it comes to fashion it gets tricky.

While you can buy everything from Levis’s to Hanes Tees on the app, high-end designers seem to have been missing out on the action. Luxury is not the largest apparel market in the industry but a niche market Amazon promises to conquer. The Covid-19 pandemic also seems to have fueled the need for the online space and its designers.

Amazon Fashion also made a $500,000 donation to A Common Thread, the magazine, and the CFDA’s industry-support initiatives.
