The famed designer Virgil Abloh launches his ‘free game’ series aimed at mentoring the next wave of fashion designers.
With the success of Louis Vuitton’s debut among other collaborations, the multi-talented designer launched his Free Game mentorship program. The program will target the next generation of up and coming young black designers. Virgil’s Free game mentor series addresses disparities in opportunities that face minority communities. Black designers will discover creative and critical spaces in which they can strive. Virgil Abloh has added videos on brands and lookbooks to his archive. From trademarks to distribution and websites. He is among the first wave of designers to launch an online mentorship program. Others like Pyer Moss have been sharing skills through the complicated industry.
“As part of my long-standing initiative to see design, art, and culture more inclusive to young black designers and those coming from non-traditional backgrounds, I wanted to assist in providing the means for them to advance on the road to ownership of their ideas and brands,” said Abloh in the Friday announcement. “I am launching this organic platform for widespread access to information and mentorship. The exact notions and tools that I used to formulate my career open to all. For free.”
Under his worldwide brand, Virgil Abloh takes his mentees through a 12-course program via his personal site / Free Game HERE.
