With its most iconic item: the cap, or the navy blue Yankee fitted renowned not in the MLB but for its becoming a fashion statement through the alignment of Hip-Hop songs and Hip-Hop artist. The brand now reaches a space where they are ready to take their logo to the catwalks around the world.
Aligned with MLB, NFL, and the NBA sporting leagues, the brand has also often given distribution with bigger street brands in its snap-back version making it a one size fits all and accessible to almost everyone. New Era is now taking a stake in the streetwear industry by the expansion of a streetwear aesthetic. The New Era cap is still an essential, but here comes the dad hats, hoodies, jumpers, sweats and accessory apparel to join the likes of competing street brands.
I have no doubt that the addition of the apparel and accessory line gives New Era an early hop on collaborations with streetwear designers who would love to get their hands dirty in the new department. KITH, BBC, Supreme, among other brands would definitely be looking to get in with the latest release with its Spring 2019 New Era looks including their classic 9TWENTY, and the new stretch snapback model 9FIFTY.
