Grandson of Bob Marley, Skip Marley surfaces with his musical debut including features from Jr. Marley in ‘Higher Places’

The ‘Marley Mantra’ is a call to Reggae fans and lovers. Skip Marley’s release of the debut EP is a call to action encouraging vibes back into the Jamaican entertainment industry. Skip already has a number #1 hit on the America charts with his co-star and, rumored romantic partner H.E.R. The two initially met for the recording of ‘Slow Down,’ Skip’s first single. The first Jamaican-born lead artist broke into the Top 15 of the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart in nearly 15 years as an international artist.

According to the tracklisting H.E.R, Rick Ross and Ari Lennox have been featured on the debut EP.  To complete the release Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, of course, shares his likes with the introduction of the ‘That’s Not True’ single with an interview sample that the reggae icon Bob Marley, gave in 1979.

Higher Place tracklist:
1. Higher Place (featuring Bob Marley)
2. Slow Down (featuring H.E.R.)
3. Make Me Feel (featuring Rick Ross & Ari Lennox)
4. My World
5. Faith
6. No Love
7. That’s Not True (featuring Damian ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley)

In a new interview with WWD, Marley shared that, despite coming from a famous Reggae family, he doesn’t feel constrained by the international genre. “I’m free, music is free, my root is reggae music. Reggae is the root that extends into the tree, and branches into different things. I sing songs I like, and songs I feel.”
