Irving’s high-top sneaker release by Nike is a ‘Kyrie 6’ N7 personal best reflecting his mother’s personal ancestral roots.

Nike has been one of the few brands that enable cultural visions of their athletes. The N7 collection remains one of their few pillars that stands with the pro-ball player Kyrie Irving.  With the release of ‘Kyrie 6’ N7 Nike helps reflect on Kyrie’s indigenous roots.  The announcement has been made during a time where Kyrie’s roots on the court are in the air.

The design plays between symbols and fabric to create what we now know is the Kyrie 6 N7 release.  The white high-tops pay homage utilizing suede fabrics, synthetic molds, and the usual mesh.  For the extra ambiance, Nike decorated the sneaker with Kyrie approved heritage patterns.  The patterns are aligned with those of Lakota quilt designs.  The Lakota is one of seven Sioux tribes. Their lands are currently in North and South Dakota.

According to Yahoo Sports,  Iriving returned to basketball practice on Jan. 9 and fully participated in contact drills.  Unfortunately according to Sean Marks’s announcement Irving will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder and miss the remainder of the 2019-20 season.

Nike sneaker debut is June 21st.
