Nike’s “Don’t Do It’ Slogan Goes Against The Grain As Racial Tension Build

The athletic brand Nike, released the ‘Don’t Do It’ ad on social media in support of ‘George Floyd’ as racial tensions build.  

In response to the murder of George Floyd, the Nike brand has addressed its support in a written statement posted on Instagram.  The one minute black and white video opened with ‘Don’t Do It’ slogan into a short but direct message where they stand.  In support of the protesting the murder of a ‘black’ and unarmed people in America, [wpdiscuz-feedback id=”vqop9hcca7″ question=”Do you agree with Nike on this ad?” opened=”0″]Nike message is as follows:[/wpdiscuz-feedback]  

Flipping the brands famed “Just do it” statement, the statement reads: “For once, don’t do it. Don’t pretend there’s not a problem in America. Don’t turn your back on racism. Don’t accept innocent lives being taken from us. Don’t think this doesn’t affect you. Don’t sit back and be silent. Don’t make any more excuses. Don’t think you can’t be part of the change. Let’s all be part of the change.”

Nike remains one fo a few brands that continue to embrace ‘Don’t Do It’ slogan to their track record of standing behind progressive causes.  They continue to support specific Black athletes as they speak out against various forms of racial injustice.
