Sony/ATV Picks Up #Rihanna Under A Global Publishing Deal

Just after hosting and performing at her own Diamond Ball event in New York, SONY/ATV which is a publishing home to Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Taylor Swift, and Cardi B amongst others added Rihanna to that roaster offering a multi million dollar deal.

Already dubbed the world’s richest female musician by Forbes, the superstar along with SONY/ATV announced that they have acquired Rihanna publishing as part of a publishing deal.  Currently also waiting for Riri to fulfill her 9th album as promised, the SONY/ATV deal according to Yahoo Ent News, says the deal was designed for past and future music from the mega-superstar. While know specific dollar amount has been reveled we know what it was.  If you don’t know by now what a publishing deal is, it is a deal that involves the assignment of some part of the ownership of a song(s) to a publishing company in exchange for a share of the royalties received by the publisher for exploitation of the songs. The company that has purchased a share or stake in the deal is allow to ‘find’ work/monetize their ownership through licensing deals etc, as well as gives a fair share of what the stake is valued at upfront to the artist(s) involved.

The publishing agreement follows an eventful week for Rihanna. On Tuesday (Sept. 10), she presented her critically acclaimed Savage x Fenty fashion show at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center–set to air on Amazon Prime Video on Sept. 20. Two days later, she held her fifth annual star-studded Diamond Ball benefitting the Clara Lionel Foundation.
